The Benefits of Dental Crowns

A dental crown does more than protect your tooth from further damage; it preserves your quality of life and makes you look forward to smiling. You can expect numerous benefits when you get a dental crown from Leaf Dental. A dental crown:

Restores a Damaged Tooth

A dental crown completely covers your damaged or decayed tooth. It strengthens and protects your tooth, restoring its functionality.

Improves Your Appearance

A dental crown is created to look and feel just like your natural tooth. It will blend with your other teeth, giving you a seamless smile.

Reinforces a Dental Bridge

A dental crown on each side of a dental bridge reinforces and supports your replacement teeth, giving you a strong foundation.

Highly recommend.

Saw Dr. Natalie Hirayama for a crown. Highly recommend. She is knowledgeable and skilled, and has a calm approach to prioritizing multiple dental concerns. Refreshing approach especially for someone who waits until it's absolutely necessary to visit the dentist.

Custom Dental Crowns in DUMBO

Our custom-made dental crowns in Brooklyn are strong and crafted from high-quality materials like zirconia, Emax, porcelain, and lithium-based silicate. Naturally, we want your crown to meet your needs and look beautiful at the same time.

Dental crowns are custom-made tooth caps that cover a natural tooth and act as a protective shield. A crown protects the underlying natural tooth from further damage and reinforces its strength, ensuring it stays strong and functional. Dental crowns repair and restore broken, damaged, brittle, and decayed teeth, but they can also conceal teeth that appear misshapen, discolored, uneven, or asymmetrical. Not only do dental crowns seamlessly restore your chewing ability, but they also stabilize your bite and improve your smile's aesthetics.

Discover High-Quality Dental Bridges in DUMBO

Are you missing one or more teeth and desire a complete smile? Dental bridges are one of the most reliable ways to replace missing teeth and fill the gaps in your grin. A traditional bridge consists of three or more specialty dental crowns that fit over natural teeth and hold your replacement tooth or teeth in place.

Dental bridges look natural and effectively prevent your remaining teeth from shifting, which can occur due to tooth loss. Though dental bridges require some special care, they are relatively low-maintenance. Our Brooklyn dental team will demonstrate how to properly clean and care for your dental bridge so you can protect your investment and your health

Frequently Asked Questions

A dental crown doesn’t merely protect your tooth; it preserves your ability to laugh without hesitation, to speak with assurance, and to smile with the full radiance of your personality. With dental crowns from Leaf Dental, your smile can be as strong as it is beautiful.

So, what is a dental crown, and how can you benefit from this dental restoration?

What Is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a cap that completely covers your natural tooth. We use dental crowns in numerous ways to help patients retain their natural teeth and beautiful smiles.

  • They protect a weakened or damaged tooth.

We can’t wait to hear from you.

Losing a dental crown can be concerning, but remaining calm and following the appropriate steps can help safeguard your tooth until you visit your dentist. Here’s what you should do:

  1. Find the crown — Retrieve the crown and store it safely in case your dentist can reattach it.
  2. Inspect the tooth — Check the exposed tooth for any sharp edges or discomfort. Avoid touching the area too much to prevent further damage.
  3. Clean the crown and tooth — Gently rinse the crown with warm water, and if the tooth isn’t painful, rinse with salt water to clean your mouth.
  4. Find an appropriate short-term fix — If you can’t see a dentist immediately, apply over-the-counter dental cement—do NOT use glue or other household adhesives—to temporarily secure the crown.
  5. Eat mindfully — Stick to soft foods and avoid chewing on the affected part of the mouth to prevent additional damage.
  6. Schedule a dental appointment — Call your dentist as soon as possible to arrange to have the crown reattached or replaced.

Safely and Securely Placing Dental Crowns in Dumbo, NY 11201

If you’re looking for a dentist in Brooklyn with experience and expertise in effectively placing—and re-placing—dental crowns and working with you to ensure their longevity, contact Dr. Eugene Goldman and the excellent Leaf Dental team today to schedule a consultation!

A dental crown is ideal for repairing a damaged, compromised, or decayed tooth, while a bridge restores a missing tooth. Here's what you should know.

What Is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown in Brooklyn is customized to cover the remaining portion of your natural tooth and protect the integrity of your root. It closely mimics your tooth in shape, form, and shade, and covers it completely down to the gum line.

Our dentists may recommend a crown in these situations:

  • To cover a broken, fractured, or decayed tooth
  • To strengthen a tooth that's had a root canal
  • To rebuild a tooth that has a large broken-down filling
  • To top a dental implant
  • To cover cosmetic imperfections

What Is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge in Brooklyn uses two dental crowns attached to a prosthetic tooth to "bridge" the gap left by a missing tooth. Your bridge is made of ceramic porcelain, so it blends seamlessly into your smile, while also restoring your chewing function.

A bridge can last seven to ten years, and possibly longer, with proper home care and routine dental checkups.

If you have questions about dental bridges or crowns in Dumbo, contact our team at (347) 572-7051 for more information.

The good news is that caring for your dental crown is much like caring for your natural teeth. You should avoid biting directly into hard foods, just like you would with a natural tooth, because it could crack your crown. Be aware that sticky or chewy foods might also pull your crown off.

Additional Tips for Caring for Your Crown

Some other things you can do to promote the longevity of your crown are:

  • Consistently brush and floss daily.
  • Wear a nightguard during sleep if you clench or grind your teeth (bruxism).
  • Avoid using your teeth as tools.

Visit Your Dumbo Dentist for Preventive Care

Routine visits at Leaf Dental for preventive teeth cleanings and exams will also help protect your restorations. Our dentists can check their internal health with x-rays because, while a crown can't sustain decay, the natural tooth structure left underneath can.

A professional cleaning helps remove plaque and bacterial buildup you might've missed at home, which could contribute to decay. Visiting your dentist every six months for preventive care is one of the best ways you can protect your smile.

If you'd like to schedule your next dental appointment, please contact our team at (347) 699-5918.

A bridge uses two healthy teeth as anchors for a prosthetic appliance that supports one or more artificial teeth in between. It is an ideal appliance for replacing one or multiple missing teeth.

What Are the Differences Between a Bridge and an Implant?

A bridge doesn't require surgery like an implant does; however, it does alter two healthy teeth. An implant places a biocompatible post into your jawbone during a simple surgical procedure, which integrates and fuses with your bone over time. This allows the implant to replace your root and support a customized dental crown to replace your tooth.

Choosing between the two often comes down to your oral health, budget, and long-term goals. A few key differences to consider include:

  • Treatment time — Bridges are typically completed in just a few visits, while dental implants require several months for the post to fuse with your jawbone.
  • Bone health — Dental implants help preserve jawbone density since they stimulate the bone like a natural root, whereas bridges do not.
  • Longevity — With proper care, implants can last a lifetime, while bridges usually need replacement after 10 to 15 years.
  • Adjacent teeth — Dental bridges require reshaping neighboring teeth, while dental implants leave surrounding teeth untouched.

Your dentist can help determine which option best fits your smile, schedule, and overall dental health. Contact Leaf Dental at (347) 699-5918 to schedule an evaluation with one of our dentists.

The Crown and Bridge Process

man in checkered shirt smiling | dental crowns 11201Before the procedure, we ensure you feel comfortable and at ease. When you're ready to begin, we numb your tooth, reshape it, and take an scan of your smile to ensure a precise fit for your crown. We send the scan to our USA dental laboratory partners, where a skilled technician crafts your restoration; this process takes a couple of weeks. In the meantime, we place a temporary crown so you can eat, speak, and smile comfortably and efficiently.

When your final crown is back from the lab, we will place it over your tooth. We first check the crown's size, shape, fit, and color to ensure it's perfect, and we secure it over the natural tooth using dental cement. We finish the procedure by removing excess dental adhesive and polishing the tooth to look shiny and beautiful like your other teeth. If you are receiving a dental bridge, we finish the procedure by securing your dental bridge in place.
